‘…ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country’ – John F. Kennedy
CURRENT PROJECTS.
1 - BOOK AID SCHEME
- Every member is required to donate at least two books, not necessarily brand new, at every meeting.
- At the end of the year all the donated books are freighted to the school library.
- Books can be purchased from second-hand bookshops, local libraries or high street charity shops. Please note that non-literary novels or over-age books will not be accepted into the ‘book aid scheme’ because of possible adult content and the astronomical cost of freighting.
- Our annual target is 120 books.
2 - ANNUAL ESSAY-WRITING COMPETITION
- This competition is open to all current pupils.
- The questions are set by the alumni.
- All entries are reviewed/marked (by volunteers) and a decision is made on the best six.
- The winning candidates receive cash gifts.
MEETINGS
- Meetings are conducted bi-monthly – first Saturday of every other month unless stated otherwise.
- Every member will be notified 2/3 weeks prior by e-mail.
- Hosting is done voluntarily - members are encouraged to put their names forward.
Please note that provision of refreshments at meetings is optional. |
